Sounds can be very overwhelming and distracting so masking and blocking can be very effective either to calm or to focus on a task.

It is also worth paying attention to the presence of vibration with sound. Music or sounds that are soothing to some may not be to others so choosing the right music or instrument is extremely important.


In most individuals our brain learns to tune out the periphery of our visual range. Without even realising we move our head toward what we are focusing on to better block out distractions. For those who can’t block it out it can be like trying to process a thousand photos at once. Not just seeing the image but also anything that moves, bright lights or flashes.
